"These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)"
is a popular song with words and music by Harry Link, Holt Marvell (real name: Eric Maschwitz), and Jack Strachey. It was written in 1935 for the London revue "Spread It Abroad", and was first performed by Judy Campbell. The song became a #1 hit in the US in the summer of 1936, primarily by British orchestra leader Carroll Gibbons, also represented by the Benny Goodman version.

Various other versions have been recorded including vocal arrangements featuring Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, Frankie Laine, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Aaron Neville, Ronnie Milsap, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat "King" Cole, Joni James, Bryan Ferry, and Rod Stewart. Instrumental jazz arrangements of the song have been recorded by Stan Getz, Benny Goodman, Benny Carter, Lionel Hampton, Thelonious Monk, Clifford Brown and Max Roach, Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker, Count Basie, Lester Young, Michael Bublé, and numerous other artists.

The song originally had the lyric "The song that Crosby sings", but Bing Crosby himself was the first performer of the song not to sing that line. Eric Maschwitz's lyrics reflect his romantic longing for the Chinese-American actress Anna May Wong after the two of them parted and he returned to England from Hollywood.

Bryan Ferry covered the Dorothy Dickson version of the song for the title of his first solo album These Foolish Things (1973). James Brown & The Famous Flames perform a live version of the song on their 1964 King Records LP, Pure Dynamite: Live At The Royal . Paris Bennett covered the song on the fifth season of American Idol.

===========================
A cigarette that bears a lipstick's traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you

A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumbling' words that told you
what my heart meant
A fairground's painted swings
These foolish things remind me of you

You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be

The winds of March that make my heart
a dancer
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you

The scent of smouldering leaves
the wail of steamers
Two lovers on the street who walk
like dreamers
Oh how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things
Remind me of you

How strange, how sweet, to find you still
These things are dear to me
They seem to bring you so near to me

The sigh of midnight trains
in empty stations
Silk stockings thrown aside
dance invitations
Oh how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things
Remind me of you
Remind me of you
Remind me of you
